Today was not a traveling day. I liked Rittenhouse Lodge and the Cape Charles area so I decided to stay around here, catch up on the blog, update the stickers on my scooter map, and ride around a little. I also communicated with some Vespa folks about what might be the problem with the scooter.
The Rittenhouse Lodge was built in 1952 by Bob Rittenhouse, who died last August. It’s now run by his son and two daughters. Other than the addition of WiFi, I don’t think much has changed about the place since it was built. It captures a period in time.

The set-up for applying the map stickers. It was intense (really). Even after riding through the states I had to reference Google Maps to get the stickers just right.
I never get tired of looking at trains and train parts.
I didn’t expect sandy beaches on Chesapeake Bay.
You must be keeping a mileage log. How many miles so far? I printed out a US map and have a dotted line to generally show your path.
As a side note, since you never get tired of looking at trains come to Sacramento and go to the train museum with me!
It was great meeting you today. Wish we would have heard about your problem earlier as we could have helped you out. Also, I hope you got to see the sunken concrete ships at Kiptopoke state park. They are really neat to see. Take care and we will be following in your journey
your comment “Something about this picture isn’t right…”
it may be because people don’t like seeing pipelines near waterways. – regardless of what’s in the pipe. Seems like a disaster goin’ to happen – that’s my take. Thanks.
