For those following on maps, this day was west on Hwy 9 through the rest of New Hampshire and most of Vermont, then south on Hwy 7 out of Vermont, through Massachusetts and a little of Connecticut, southwest into New York on Hwy 44, and south along the Hudson River on Hwy 9W almost to the town of Balmville. (It is my intent to someday add a map to this blog.) Lots of leaves, the pictures tell the story.
These two bridges cross the Connecticut River, which separates New Hampshire (near) from Vermont (distant). Structurally the two bridges look very similar. The old bridge is closed to automobile traffic, but is open to explore by foot and bicycle. The locals must like the old bridge because it has potted flowers and other indications of emotional attachment. I spent some time walking around and enjoying the location.
May-be too many road pictures, but each one has meaning to me, and I couldn’t let them go.
I had lunch at The Store at Five Corners in Williamstown, MA. I may have been especially hungry, but I think it was one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever been served.
Mike, I am not finding the map link at all. Where is it?
It’s not there yet, just a “sometime in the future” plan.
very nice landscape pictures, and to think you’re seeing these landscapes all around while you travel these areas. You have to drive somewhere in CA to see something half as good. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy how you work your motorcycle into most of your photo shots, gives some scale, and it is colorful.
note: FleetWeek/Blue Angels in town for the big air show over SF Bay this weekend. We are having very warm Oct weather.
You’re getting really close to my “home turf” – Lake Luzerne/Lake George in the southern Adirondacks – holler and I’ll give you some spots you won’t want to miss!
Safe travels!
Hi Mike, hope the engine troubles were just a bad tank of fuel….any progress on a fix? Geoff from the pool.
Can’t tell you how much I am enjoying your vlog. I’m 70 and just bought two motorcycles after a 45 year hiatus from the sport. One of my bikes is a small 300cc adventure/ dual sport bike. I can’t wait to hit the road next summer on a ride similar to yours. I probably won’t go across country but I’d like to stay on secondary roads and really smell the roses. Thanks so much for posting your story. OH yeah…I love your road shot photos. 🙂
Michael,
Thank you for your comment. Your PTW history is very similar to my own. I’m glad for you, me and all the others who have rediscovered this life-affirming activity after a time away (often to attend to the worthwhile tasks and responsibilities associated with tending a family). However short or long the distance we travel, we’re smiling inside.
Take Care,
Mike
